Studded tires ARE legal in Ontario (northern region only and during winter season)
http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/faq/vehicle.htm#studs
I'm in northern Ont., have winter tires on my car, and declined the offer for studding. My colleague has them, needless to say, just loves them. She lives in a rural area, so it's almost a need. Funny to hear someone rolling on them, as it sounds like they're running flat! She said many peeps have come up to her to say just that!

I ordered a set of Bridgestone Blizzak WS-60s online 2 weeks ago because no one around here had any decent winter tires in stock, and especially not in my size. They actually came right from Bridgestone. All of the best brands and models are out of stock everywhere it seems.
My car is rear wheel drive, has traction control and stability control, but there`s no question that I need winter tires in order to get proper traction, especially when starting from a stop. My tires will be put on my car tomorrow so I will be able to test these. |

It's getting harder to order winter tires here because they're all being shipped to Quebec where it's law to have winters on your vehicle. |

I just found out that it is mandatory to have Snow/Winter tires in Quebec.
I hope its the same here... I would feel more comfortable driving on the road knowing other people have them and wouldn't worry as much about being reared end again....
Anyways I love my Nordics, I just put them on today. Winter Tires are good cause they flush out everything to the sides. Apparently they are also good in the rain... like this past summer lol. |

The Goodyear Nordics are the ones I had installed last month. See how they saved my ass twice already in my previous post. |

| So I tested out these tires this weekend, which was a good weekend with all this snow, and my car is a different car lol. It's honestly like night and day with these tires. So much traction now. I have standard and I stopped on some steep hills that were covered in snow, tried to get the car going, and no problems. The stopping distance is shorter than it was with my all seasons for sure. I tried the same "panic stop" in a parking lot and although I didn't measure the distance, I can notice it being shorter right away. I slid way more with the all seasons. So far I'm liking my new winters :) |
