Not sure I agree with you, since with mainstream music producers are credited when working on music for pop stars. Open up any cd cover and you'll spot credits to producers for each track. Sometimes you have pop stars hiring producers to compile their whole cd.
This is not what's happening in the underground scene, where producers get no credit and those that release the material get all the credit. |

It's because ghost producers are often paid to be just that: silent producers. This industry is bent on individuality and the DJ has to be the producer now too. If you aren't the 'producer' then you don't 'seem' as big of a deal to the general public.
That said, the majority of people won't give a that Guetta didn't make his own tunes because he's at a level where he doesn't have to worry as he has enough fans buying his records. Perhaps he never did have to worry in the first place, but this seems to be the way the dance music industry moves.
And the comments about other industries: I think that the general population who listen to those genre's don't have a clue as who makes the music unless it's a producer like Timberland who put himself in the spotlight. |

even sasha works with a team and talks about it openly.
for every big dj that has a ghost producer there is one that is the brains
as for rock pop, fairly common that the producer/song writer is not the performer and will be listed in the credits |
