Anyone with Bell (DSL)? You shouldn't be...

I just switched over to TekSavvy

$40/month total, same speed, 200GB/month cap and no throttling (even though they're on Bell's copper... you just need the right router and the ability to follow a quick walkthrough).

With Bell, I was getting reamed by excess bandwidth charges, a connection throttled down to 30KB/s... don't even mention their incoming text-message fees.

Figured I'm not the only noob getting ripped off, hope this helps someone... :)

PS: If you're skeptical, check out the their forums at dslreports... Their tech support is fantastic and their user base is incredibly geeky/have done their homework on this stuff.

Edit: where did the other reply go...

The only problem with Radioactif is that they don't support MLPPP, so you can't avoid Bell's throttling (assuming the CRTC keeps sucking). TekSavvy also runs on Peer 1 routing (lower latency) as opposed to Cogent.

My TekSavvy bill will be about $38/month... Haven't got the first one yet though :)

You can also go cheaper... or more expensive; for $60 a month you could run two connections under dual-link MLPPP and have the equivalent of a 12meg uncapped, unlimited connection :wtf:

I had Teksavvy, they rocked!

You're capped if you use torrents. Solution - don't use torrents :) I download from Usenet.

I have Bell and it's pretty good IMO.

which usenet service are you using?

I have Bell for $29.99, Unlimited... even though they canceled those a couple years ago. I just argue with them and get to retentions, then they give me free stuff too.

I have the 6mb connection with Bell and Unlimited Bandwidth, they cancelled the unlimited last month for those who had it for the last 3 years unless you agree to pay an extra 5$ a month to keep it

So now instead of 37$ tax included i pay 42$
It's allllllllllllll goood
with my torrents the download speed is around 300kb/s - 400kb/s
Normal download speed is 700kb/s - 750kb/s

They've tried to cancel mine a couple times... I just argue like mad.

nothing beats videotron though, yes there's a 20G download limit, but seriously, i don't download that much anyways, i get what i need and I don't need that much nowadays.

Always had trouble with DSL connections, DSL is not reliable and is contentious to so many possible issues between your modem and their servers.

Videotron delivers a neat 750KB/sec everytime no question asked, no throttling.

How much do you pay?

I'm getting about 1.2 MB/s on torrents w/ TekSavvy :)

Videotron's 20GB/mo is too little when you're sharing the connection with a room mate who somehow manages 30GB/month on his own.

I think it was 10$ for 25GB? I don't download much tbh, an occasional HD movie or something, that's it.
