Well Martin Roth made me move like no other dj has this year. which actually wasn't surprising-I've been a close fan of his nu style productions and his shockwave session sets, so I kind of knew what to expect. I've only been waiting to see this guy live, and boy did he deliver. I got there at 12:30 so I only got a 90 minute set by him..but that 90 minutes easily makes the best set I've seen in 2008. A powerhouse of a set and unique, as phoenixbebe said. the kind of pumping, rocking edm that just puts the dance in you whether you're sitting still or driving. his set whet my apetite so much that I lost the vibe when he left. with that build-up he did, no one else could have picked up where he left off except for roth himself. maybe that's why it really, really felt like m.i.k.e. should have been opening for him and not the other way around, no offense to m.i.k.e. Roth's set was refreshing compared to all the same-sounding sets of avb, kyau, ronski speed & such recently, of which I've been getting very bored. anyone with a good ear for the music will recognize that the man has a vibe/style of his own with the tracks he plays and the mixing etc.
I got there early for Keryn's set but missed it, sorry Keryn : ( I'm sure it was great. was also nice saying hi to dj Eco.
really hoping to catch more of this man very soon. now having said that, I guess I'll have to brace my speakers to pound some shockwave session sets tonight, hehe ;)
it's time for some new styles like these to take over, add something fresh to the scene. |

| Wowowow!!! Amazing night... Was getting nervous about the turnout around 12:15, but then 10 minutes later, Martin played "Pjanoo" and people just seemed to materialize on the dancefloor out of nowhere and from that point on, it was a very dense crowd!!!! A lot of people were raving about the two DJs, the music last night was second to none. Martin had a blast and loves New York more and more each time he comes, and I'm pretty sure MIKE had fun as well. Having it at Webster Hall did a lot of good to this party I think. There was such a varied crowd of different people and I'm glad they got to experience good music. My little cousin had an amazing time, it was his first trance party, and he said he wants me to take him out more often! :) |

What a night :D
First off, thanks to all you guys for supporting the venue/date change. I know it's tough to rearrange plans for a night you'd had planned for weeks, and we really appreciate you guys following us to Webster last night. You guys rock :)
On to the dj's...
Keryn seriously played a phenomenal opening set. Like Rory said, a lot of really dark progressive stuff, and just great stuff all around. I never get to hear a full set of anybody in the crew, so I'm really pleased I got to hear this one. Awesome :D
Now Martin...WOW. I've heard Martin live once before, and he was good, but last night he was on a whole other level. One of my favorite sets all year. He really spanned all genres, and played them all really really well.
M.I.K.E. played great as always. Trancetastic...lol
Now earlier on in the night I was talking to Hai Lee about him closing after these monsters, and I said "better him than me"...and I meant it lol. Hai Lee played a really great closing set, and did a really good job keeping the energy up late night.
All in all, a really fun night :) |

There's no doubt about that, the big room does Martin's set justice, and a bigger venue is always better. although love's sound system is solid.
sounds like keryn played a killer set..very much regret missing this one, esp if it's dark and progressive like jvm/sasha at twilo! |

first off... thank you guys all for your support! we couldn't do a lot of this without your enthusiasm. great crowd and it was packed all night
Like Frank said, I rarely ever get to hear a full set by the members of our crew because we're usually running around... last night was great because i finally got to hear every single djs full set.
best part of the night was around 12:00 when some guy came up to the stage and yell to keryn "you rippin' it right now!" and she just bust out with huge smile and then started bopping and dropin' bass lines haha .... great moment.
Was very impressed with martin roth... i thought he would play more full on trance, but like I said when I was talking to alysa, he played a mix of prog and trance back and forth.. was very cool because the proggy stuff made the trance more explosive rather then just hearing trance all night.
M.I.K.E. always delivers and had some huge synths going on... loved it.
couldn't be happier with the night |
