hi, I'd like something no more than $250. Is the axiom REALLY worth the extra money over the oxygen 49? I definitely want 49 keys. The other thing I heard was good is the akai mpk49 but it is out of my price range. Any suggestions? I use fl studio primarily and am quite the noob. thanks

I bought the axiom 49 because of the way the keys felt. Although I'm very happy i did now with all the extra buttons and stuff.

It's great being able to use drum pads/whatever you call them to activate things in reason... as well as having some many knobs and faders you can actually use either for whatever. I much prefer to use faders for parameters. So ya, it looks like, more faders... drum pads, bigger pitch bend/modulation

if you can live with the extremely mediocre quality of the pitch bend (scaling effect) on the entire range, then the axiom is good. If not, go for something else.

I have a nano pad and a oxygen 49 key on the way.:eyespop:

I bought the axiom 49 several weeks ago and couldn't be more happy with it. Nice solid build quality, good feel on the keys and pads. Lots of sliders and rotary knobs. No complaints about it so far, although i haven't used it extensively yet. All in all, i definately recommend it for a midi controller.

I also own the axiom after using the keystation 49-e for two years. Not much needs to be said as that's obviously a huge step up! But yeah, I check out the producer section of guitarcenter with some regularity, trying out the new gear which includes midi controllers. The axiom is just about the best you can get for the price. Highly recommend.

I would recommend the mpk49 if you want a combination of keys/controllers,, I sold a remote sl 61 for the mpk49 and have never looked back! if you don't need keys the mpd 32 is very good for control over your beats..
