What is so Great about Technics 1210 Mk2 ????
I mean I got par of Omnitronic DD-4250 LTD,thay got direct drive and all the features Technics got plus 20% pitch and quartz lock and thay cost about $100 less !!
I think you pay mostly for the label TECHNICS !!!!
SO can anyone give me a good argument her ? :) |

more stable than any other deck.. i think it has the highest torque of any non-digital deck..
durable.. doesn't break down...
high start up speed.. adjustable arm height (others have it too.. but.. yea)
they've been the same deck for more or less 20 years.. no deck has matched it in all respects.. |

| Well, if you think your omnitronic decks are superior you keep them ... personal preference I guess. No need to try and convert the technics supporters 'coz I'm sure nobody will sell their techs and go out and buy an omnitronic. I just want to know if you ever played on 1200s ? There's something about them that just feels right ... like, they give off a very precise and reliable impression. And also I've seen 1200s that are over 10 years old and still work just as good as brand new units. These things are built like a tank ... or otherwise they wouldn't be the industry standard right now. All the new decks that are supposedly "superior" might have a whole bunch of bells and whistles but in the end reliability, precision, and ruggedness - that's what counts. It is like having to decide between a japanese and a german car. |

| hmm skywarp....im guessing you dont know much in automobile engineering huh? nissan will fukin rule any car...well at least the ones they use in that country...the exports are just decent...and german cars will no doubt blow them away.. |

nyczliquid, you probably didn't quite get my analogy ... japanese cars being the omnitronics with all the fancy bells and whistles and technics being german cars with solid high-performance construction ...
let's not make this a debate about who makes better cars ... hahaha |

I agree its not about features its about the way they play and keep on playing year after year. I wouldn't trade mine. Though I've never tried an omnitronic.
Anyone out there who has never use a technics deck I'll explain why I love them. You press start they start very quickly, you press stop they stop very quickly. When you set the pitch it keeps going at that pitch doesn't wobble around it. They wiegh a tonne you can scratch them with them just sitting on a desk and they wont slip around on the table.
They are very powerful motors. I mean you can get your nine minute long track and keep backtracking it all the way back from the end to the start if you want just keep winding it and winding it back as fast as you can and the needle doesn't jump and the table just keeps on spinning underneath the whole time so that if at any time you want to let it go and play it will.
If these things I have talked about can be done as good on an omnitronic good. Someone has matched a technics and cheaper although even if they do perform up to scratch few people will take the risk when they've always used 1200s. |
