Can you sample a hard synth in Direct Wave like a ss?

I know the long way to do it (haven't done it yet just assuming) would be pressing and recording each note individually in Edison than dragging and mapping out every note individually into Direct Wave.
The problem is that would take forever and vst patches take like 5 seconds with the automatic VST option. Is there any quick ways to do a hardsynth that I'm missing here?
