I'm sorry, but Kanye's new album is actually good. Quite good. As big of an ass as he is, he really poured his heart into the album, and the result is fairly impressive. If this is the direction hip hop/pop is headed, I'm all for it.

So, why does he have to use a vocoder so much? 5 tracks I clicked on, 5 were vocoded. ty voice, much?
Edit: I think all of them are vocoded. Meh.

He can't rap to save his life and he is a huge douche, but I've always thought he was a talented producer.

Love Lockdown is growing on me.
However auto-tune ruins this album, or at least what I've heard.
'Heartless' - nice lyrics, cool piano, but auto-tone ruins it, can't even listen to it the whole way thru.
'See You In My Nightmares' - Lil Wayne sounds like a cat being tortured with a cheese grater.
RapidFire
its good. I hear a lot of 80s influence in it (Tears For Fears in particular) the last track is basically 'Memories Fade' and I hear Mad World in the intro of 'Amazing'. thought I should point that out :p
but yeah definetly great record.

For others as oblivious as I am to the wonders of modern technology:
(hilarious vid, just skip to 3:00 when he starts singing)
I think Melodyne would beat the out of Auto-Tune.

i actually saw him on conan last week. he was talkin about the vocoder & says he likes to use it because it forces him to respond better vocally. as for influences, he said he went to a daft punk concert & said it was the best show he's ever seen & he's been majorly influenced by them artistically.

lebezniatnikov, you're an example of what's wrong with kids these days. you guys keep lowering your standards. i dont blame you, after listening to hip hop on the radio all day, this sounds refreshing. however, this is still not "quite good" yet. its a nice start, and good to see hip hop moving in a better direction, i give em a pat on the back, but they still got a lot of work to do. kanye needs to stay where he belongs ... behind the studio mixer.
