What programs can I use to record vocals with a midi interfaced microphone. The vocal patterns would have to be recorded as .wav or midi files for me to use them.

woops somebody doesn't know what midi is

midi is NOT audio

it's note on/off signals and parameters that are sent to midi-devices (such as synthesizers) that play the notes that are transmitted in the midi signal (which isn't audio)

midi interfaced microphone...nope....have yet to come across one of those

you can record wave files with a microphone using a wave editor such as sound forge, or Cool edit

Good got sound forge. A mate mentioned midi, and yes until your reply I didnt have a clue what the it was!!

What I meant by the midi microphone was that apparantly this one runs through the midi ports on my CPU?
Will this work with soundforge?

as I pb-ed...I don't see how you run a microphone thru a midi port. Midi works with din-plugs.

Din plug:

If your soundcard has a mic-in it probably eats minijacks.

Mini-Jack:

does your microphone have a plug as in the last pic or another?

[edit] if your microphone has a plug like the above page, sticking it in the midi interface won't help, you'll need to convert to a plug that your mic in can eat [/edit]

MIC's can come in DIN PLUGS.. i have a couple ... only cheap as MICS comes with those regular audio jacks.

yeah it's correct that some mikes use din....hence the last lines of my previous post...I remembered once having one....but most high end mikes have an XLR plug (my pretty cheap one has a TRL)
