Father Dies Following Oshawa Birthday Party Attack

Rick Kelly, whose wife and son both died following a violent attack at a birthday party in their Oshawa home last Saturday, has also now passed away. The 29-year-old succumbed to his wounds in hospital overnight due to unforeseen complications.
Rick's wife Leslie, 26, was fatally stabbed while trying to protect her children. It's alleged a neighbour, since identified as 47-year-old Gino Petralia, came over to the house armed with a knife.
Rick apparently asked Gino to leave and he refused to, turning violent on the family. Leslie apparently threw herself between the attacker and her sons, sustaining fatal wounds in the process.
Three-year-old Nathan Kelly was also badly hurt in the violent events, and he was pronounced dead in hospital on Wednesday.
Now, Rick has become the latest victim, the sixth homicide in Durham Region in 2008.
Petralia was shot dead by police, who described the case as one of family violence. The Kellys had apparently taken in Petralia's 13-year-old son after the boy's mother died. They also had a five-year-old boy, and an 11-year-old son who was Ricky's from a past relationship. They survived but are now left without parents. The family has asked that the media and the public respect their privacy and allow them to mourn their losses.

Yeah, i heard about that on the weekend.
I thought for a second that it could've been my boss. He lives in Oshawa and was having a birthday party for his kid on Saturday as well.
Very sad indeed.

I'm guessing the motive was that Gino resented the family for taking his kid in after the mother died. That's my guess.
