Is there anywhere on the net where I can get my hands on the melodies of tracks so I can have a go at re-mixing them. For example, I really am interested in doing a re-mix of Tranquility Base - Surrender, but I need the melody. Other than being amazingly talented on the keyboard, is there anywhere that I can find these? The Tranquility Base one is just an example of many.

Thanks, DJ HARN.

you'd have to contact the producer's for the whole track in seperate layers. tranquility base is above & beyond, and i doubt they're looking for new remixes to that stuff

Recreate it yourself. Easier said than done I know, but surely a remix should be your own interpretation of the song anyway.

Join a remix-competition, there are plenty.

play the track

in your sequencer, try to match the notes while it's playing. if it's wrong, it will sound wrong, so move them

once all is done, change note lengths to the right thing and you'll be fine

obviously, this is not an option if you're tonedeaf (but then you shouldn't be writing music)

short of that, looking for ringtone versions or MIDI versions of the track you want to remix can yield good results (careful - often some of the notes are wrong. at least, that's what I've found)

if there's a part where there's no beat...just melody...u can cut it out and loop it on something like Reason's Dr. Rex.

Play the melody on your keyboard at 1/2 or 1/4 speed, and then speed it up in an audio editor program. A lot of work, but it could be worth it if you really need that melody...
