Probably the Yamaha hs80m.

Try visiting a music store if possible and listen for yourself in the given pricerange, and above. Choosing monitors is very much a personal thing, everyone experiences certain monitors differently.

I vote Yamaha HS80Ms or Event TR8s.

I'd save an extra $200 and get the ADAM A5s. They were just released as ADAM's newest budget monitor.

This is idiotic. Everyone is going to recommend the sets they prefer. There are so many choices out there that you're better off looking yourself. But for the most part, all monitors in their respective price ranges are the same. That's how they're priced... according to how much thought was put into the design. It really just comes down to personal taste.

Speaking of monitors, you get your Focals yet alanzo? When you do please add to Eric J's thread or something as I'm curious to hear your take on them.

They're coming in tomorrow. I'll post in the Focal Twin6 review thread this weekend or so.

It is idiotic. Some more moderation would be helpfull. For instance closing all these monitor topics.

I didn't recommend the set I prefer though. I prefer higher end monitors hehe, more or less mid-range priced stuff instead of the budget range.

Why do you say this is idiotic? You got a problem with monitors guy?

So what is good for around 800 and has a good bass for a medium sized room?

It is idiotic because buying speakers is based on personal preference. Everything we might be recommending could be wrong for the person in question.

You're supposed to get off your lazy ass and go to a shop to listen for yourself by any means necessary. If a 600$ or 800$ investment isn't worth the effort you should consider not getting monitors at all. Without pre-listening buying monitors almost completely defeat their purpose. They're supposed to extend the depth and detail you hear. The way certain speakers behave don't seem accurate to certain people. Your 600$ investment could turn out to be a total waste. You can't tell that from a forum. Listen!
