I try not to buy used computers, but yeah I guess it could work out as a good deal. If it has applecare until feb 2010 you'll have a working laptop until then, which is about how long you can expect a laptop to work for.

I guess the real question is why do you need a mac? Are you going to run Logic?

But referring back to the "refurbs" we'd discussed, aren't refurbs used? I mean, if I'm going to spend $1000 on a refurb and get 90 days warranty, why not get something like this used one and have the Applecare till 2010?

No. Ableton along with about 15 different design programs.

Are the design programs Apple only?

I only bought a mac because it was the cheapest 13" laptop I could find that runs Logic. Especially since you can get a 15" with similar components (same processor/memory) for that price new.

You can??? Where? I have been toying with the idea of getting a Mac so that I can get Logic. I love Logic and am sorely pissed that you can't get a PC version.

In 2010, Autodesk will begin writing AutoCAD for Macs. I use prgrams like Adobe Maya, Autodesk 3DS Max, Revit Architect, SketchUp, Illustrator and I use photoshop cs3 religiously.

I may consider Logic man but I'm really not serious about producing. I'm just the #1 dj in the world...that's it.

Pretty much anywhere. A 15" laptop with an intel dual core runs like $5-600 until you start adding a bunch of extras.

That is cool. If you want a mac then get one, but I don't think they're any better than any other good brand. Just that you can run Logic which is what everyone I collaborate with runs. So I need to learn it.

How big of an HD and Memory?

I don't know because I always upgrade those third party. You get ripped doing upgrades from Apple, Dell, etc... So I always order memory from newegg.com (4 gigs for like $70) and use external hard drives.
iclone
yes, that's a good deal. make sure it works :p

my only complaint about macs is lack of hard drive space. i've had mine since february, and it's 80% full.
