Sky Television screens the suicide of a 59 year old Motor Neurone disease sufferer Craig Ewert.
WARNING: Video shows the moments before death.
thoughts?
I don't really know how I feel about this at the moment - I guess I'm indifferent towards the issue of medically-assisted suicides. Yet, one part of the video in particular that made me feel awkward/sad/uneasy was when he drank the barbiturate, kissed his wife, and just laid his head back. Yeah...again I'm not exactly sure how I feel about the scene or the topic, and I suspect it's got a lot to do with the fact that it's impossible for me to fully comprehend the situation.
what do you guys think?

Well if there is no cure for the problem you have and your pain from the illness is far more than your will to live then Im all for it.....you dont want to live its a choice your making on your own no one can know what amount of pain your going thru inside you but you.....Its sad and I know wrong but hey again its a choice you make.

we watch people get slaughtered in movies and no one flinches?:) this is real life!
I'm glad there are countries/clinics which let people make this choice - not to live like a helpless vegetable facing a horrible, slow death, but instead passing away in clear state of mind

I saw part of this on TV the other night.. and am all for it.
I am completely in favor of assisted suicide.
I would much rather be able to go peacefully and on my own terms instead of subjecting my love ones to months of hell.
I could go on an on.. but my main point would be I think we are long over due for something of this nature to be passed.

I agree with Shelley.
Although I also recognize that there needs to be very strong controls in place and then that begs the question of who should play the 'grim reaper'....

I'm not against it.
If someone wants to make that choice then that's fine with me.
