best options for vocals?

I'm working on a midtempo/intro style/deep/tech house cover/bootleg of Jefferson Airplane's "Today", and I'm debating my options with regard to the vocals.

I'm only planning on using the vocals from the verse (initially approximately 00:25-00:45, then again at 01:08, and again finally at 01:51), and debating whether or not to try to sample the original, re-record the vocals myself (which would be fine, but I don't exactly have the best equipment/situation for recording vocals), or find someone to record the vocal bits for me (as others have done here - and I have some vocalist friends who I'm sure would enjoy giving it a go as well, hurray for going to an art school!).
So yeah - anyone else tackled something like this? Recommendations any way to try, or routes you all think would be your first inclination?

vocals can be tricky in any project you dare embark on.

| I say try it yourself - what have you got to lose, besides time? Search these (and other) forums for threads pertaining to recording vox (there are a lot of them) and give it a go. You may be surprised, you may be disappointed, but one thing is certain: you'll learn by doing. |
