Tiesto Lets The Cat Out Of The Bag...Activision's DJ Hero Out Summer '09
Tiësto has gushed about his involvement in the hush-hush video game project on his newsletter. "We are proud to announce that Tiësto has teamed up with the game developer Activision and their latest project DJ Hero," proclaimed the newsletter. Tiësto added: "I am very excited about this! I think this is a great way to introduce people into DJing. Maybe they realize it's not as easy as they think. I am sure this brings new fans to the scene, dance music is not far from hip-hop for example. Hopefully the music I have composed appeals to all kinds of fans!" |

I hope this does introduce more of America to this music. Most people don't even have an opinion of electronic music here. Bring it to their ears and they might follow |

He's saying that to promote the product..but I really hope he doesn't feel that way. The only way to get introduced to DJing is by practicing it on a friends' decks or our own, like myself had countless others had to do. If the software somehow matches the real challenging of synchronizing two tracks manually and not automatically. I can see it as a learning tool. Im curious to know what the midi-controller for this is.

That's the way it should be! It should never be easy, if its too easy than the craft wouldnt be near as respected, and the DJ in character wouldnt have any character. Besides, the electronic music market is over-loaded with wanna-bes and s as it is.
Bottom line is...if someone gets discouraged and gives up after a week due to the learning curve of artistic and techinal side of being a DJ, then DJing simply aint for them. |

Do you not like it when your friends are introduced to the music for the first time and they like it?
I understand your point of view, but it is an art that should be shared. I don't think I'm "cool" since I listen to electronic music |

no, i just don't like people getting introduced to crap and them thinking it's the best thing in the world and then relate it to every other trance/techno/electronic song. take sandstorm for example. i can't tell you how many people i have told i listen to trance and they bring up sandstorm and act like it's the best song ever. if i'm gonna introduce trance/techno to someone, i'm going to teach them what true trance/techno not this popular pop stuff everyone is playing. |

Seriously thought... I see where you're coming from, guitar hero did nothing but shed light on a lot of great music to people who would otherwise have never heard it. If i hear "you know they did that song on guitar 2" just one more time I could cry... I don't know what I would do if it happened like that to my beloved trance... |

haha...you should hear half the tracks on GH: World Tour. Never even heard of some of these people and frankly, it could have stayed that way. stupid Emo tracks are all over GH World Tour. |
