i already ripped a song i needed off that site (though only cause it wasn't for sale anywhere :whip:)
plugged my audio interface output into the input and hit record :haha:
edit: oh and seriously, this site is amazing, everyone should check it out
as awesome as it's been for me as a producer, its been even more amazing as a listener
edit2: ooh hadn't been in a few days, they re-did the site layout

God damnit. Oh well. My stuff is copywritten and if someone is smart enough to figure out how to rip it (i.e. less than 5% of the population) then they deserve the track. |

hah i mean thats the same way you could rip something off of mtv or the radio, no getting around that period
though actually, if you add a little info thing about your song, it'll pop up randomly during the song (with a little bloop! sound effect) when it does. my recording of that song i wanted has the bloop in it, but luckily for me it fell on beat. honestly, its the best you're gonna do if you let people listen to the whole song |

Oh....you mean that bloop with mess up the flow of the track if someone is trying to rip it eh?

click on your name in the toolbar at the top
you'll see your song on the right of your logo (or lackthereof at the moment)
click on edit>> and in the box there should be a 'interesting factoid' box, type in there |

k quick rundown
so when an artist uploads a song, i starts with 0 'bumps'
bumps work similarly to how a bump would work on a forum, more bumps more attention, the more bumps a song gets the more likely it is to be heard
so, now for the points. as a listener (you need a separate acct for this) you get a certain # of points to start, and additionally you get 20 points every day you log in. you can use your points to bump a song. so if there's a song on there thats popular already, lets say 700 bumps, it would probably cost like 5 points to bump it again. THEN for every person after you who bumps it, you get points back, but only like 1 or 2. so low risk, low reward
HOWEVER, if you find a new song before many people have heard it (for example, i bumped your song and it cost like 60 points cause it hadn't been bumped yet). now any time anyone bumps that song i'll get like 40 points each time.
so its kinda like fantasy football or something really, but as a listener you try to find the next hot song and are actually rewarded for it
also if you find someone who has similar tastes to you you can subscribe to them, and anytime they bump a song it'll alert you
all in all its like half networking site, half fantasty record label, and its an absolutely amazing way to find new music and promote your own |

whoaaaaa this is still sorta confusing. I'm gonna have to register as a listener. So I have 4 points. How did I get them? Did you give them all to me? Or do I only get one point per listener? Btw thanks for bumping my song! I owe you virgin women. :) |
