I am sorry if this has been posted a million times because I am sure it has. If anyone can point me to some good threads I will delete this one. Basically, I am looking for a good beginner synthesizer that would be capable of doing at least decent producing stuff. I currently have no keyboard but I do have access to one kinda so if it is a synthesizer partnered with a keyboard that would be great. I am looking for something under $500 and it is mainly to get me started. Umm any recommendations would be great, I plan on going to the local music store and best buy tomorrow to mess around with whatever they have. I am open to hardware and software suggestions but I am really hands on so I would prefer hardware. Thanks for any help.

I am not really sure you know how people produce tracks. so check THIS OUT! That link doesn't just apply to edm, and is a good read for all levels of producers. Also, at the top of this forum you will notice a number of stickied threads. The tutorial master list has pretty much everything you need to know to get started.

I would recommend a decent pair of monitors.
There are a lot of vst synths that can be 'downloaded'...

Depends on what type of electronic music exactly your looking for. If your into trance, you can get Vanguard VST or ZEBRA and use it with cubase or whatever software you use. Its awesome for trancy sounds. You can then connect your keyboard and use it as MIDI.

One of the guys in this thread mentioned studio monitors. Since your a beginner, i personally wouldnt spend hundreds of dollars on monitors JUST yet, instead I would invest that money in getting something that will improve your productions, such as a good soundcard or state of the art production software.

Good luck!

I bought a microkorg before i got any software and as a result Im pretty good at synthing things. It even has an easy to use computer program that lets you edit the synth on your screen.

4 oscillators for phat sounds
Great presets (although if ur a purest like im turning into youll delete them and make your own)
massive range of params you can edit 128 to be precise
60 odd waveforms to choose
2 LFOs
8 patch router thingys

The list goes on.
