Nah, trance crowds bring the biggest crowds in NYC by far.
As Mike Bindra from Made Event said in 2002: "Like the whole 'Trance is dead' thing. Trance is as big as it ever was if not bigger. If Trance is dead I can't imagine what it would be like if it was alive, you know. Paul Van Dyk, 3,000 people at the Roxy in New York City, that doesn't look dead."
And that was before he was getting 5000+ crowds for PVD events.

| Not to mention the other risks like Rank1/Menno, Martin/M.I.K.E., Kva/Ronski, Tyas/Patterson those parties have been proving the opposite of trance here in New York :) I agree with Jason... |

^^^
word imo trance was big in nyc but only with the big guys back then so that saying is true but false at the same time
imo it got alot more bigger in nyc when avalon and arc started to bring in the lesser known dj's around 2003 and the success lasted threw 2006
last year was an ok year there were a few dead nights except for ronski & kyau and albert to close the year off wow what a night
2008 was really good tho for the nyc trance scene
i hope it stays at this level for 2009
i will deff be showing support for the "not so big trance djs" and the big ones as long as the talent is there :) |

I been to many pvd and other trance events in the city, and every time I go, it's only gotten bigger and bigger. Some events were not as crowded as others, but I think Trance is still very strong in this city.
It's true that when ever the bigger name dj's come that's when you see the most crowds, but that's expected. We just need to let people know that trance is still here when the big guys are not around. Either if it's from less known artist, or local DJs, people should know they can still go out almost every week and listen to the music they love. |

| Agree with you all, trance is far from dead but on the rise and is one of the biggest EDM genre's doing well here and growing even more by the min around the world. NYC imo is still one of the best places in the world to go clubbing for it as well with "the big room" clubs such as Pacha and Webster Hall to Sullivan Room and Love that are left. Four places to choose from to go clubbing every weekend with an international artist coming in is alot better then most places in the world. I'm gonna have to say it if no one else has but we are one of the spoiled markets in the world with the amount of great talent that comes through here :) |

| If you read the whole article...not just that quote, the point I was getting at is that there are more house parties in general but the trance parties that draw the biggest crowds are the "big" guys with the exception of the locals that WE all know and love but everyone else may not be onto yet. The comment wasn't aim at trance addict in particular but the general majority based on statistics. I don't deny that there is a great trance scene here but many of the other promoters wont take the risk on bringing in the lesser known talent. Everyone knows I support the trance scene to the fullest so it wasn't meant as an insult by any means. I wouldn't have written the article otherwise, I was not asked to write it and it was not an assignment. It was something I did on my own accord. |
