Normally I'd agree with you, BUT... it's simple text. He could get it done anywhere. Really all he needs is somewhere clean and then to pick the font and location.

A good tattoo goes beyond the way the artist draws and how it looks. If the tattoo artist goes too deep or shallow into the skin with the needle it won't heal properly and will scab off (on its own not from picking) creating white marks on the tattoo.
I had this problem with the little music note I have on my hip. The first tattoo I got at New Tribe was done excellently and after coming back (to find out the tattoo guy I used before wasn't there) I decided to try a new artist (sorry can't remember his name) but he didn't do the greatest job on my music note and it costed 60 dollars for what is now a black note with white splotches in it from the scabbing. |

| I would also have to recommend NewTribe. I've only gotten one tattoo here in Toronto, but i was def. satisfied with my tattoo and my experience there. Can't remember who did mine though...too long ago! |

Woops my bad...thanks for the correction :p
My first tattoo was done at an outdoor shop in Taipei and it turned out ten times better than the ones I've gotten in Toronto. I finally decided to splurge on my bday to get the music note added onto so it would be more than some sketchy looking note on my hip. For the same price as that stupid music note I got at New Tribe I had the best tattoo artist in Shanghai (she's been in countless magazines from all over the world write about her, received awards, etc.) add on some beautiful bars and music notes and make it look decent.
Matt I would talk to your friends who have tattoos about where they got them and get their opinion on how the overall experience including how well the tattoos healed. Check to see if there are any funky white marks on them as well. |

New Tribal on Queen Street. I got my tattoo there and the guy was excellent and knowledgable but he said he was leaving in a few weeks and that was November of 2006.
I haven't really been too impressed with Toronto tattoo artists either...especially for the prices they charge. |
Yah I got mine there too....
Not bad...
Price was ok.... |

| Although I haven't gotten tattoos there, I have gotten all my piercings done at New Tribe and I'm a +1 for there as well. |

What pissed me off about that place is when my hip tattoo didn't heal properly I took the card they give you for "free touchups for a year" and they wouldn't honour it! I spent an hour in there talking to everyone that worked in the shop trying to find out why they would give me this card and then not allow me to use it? Especially since the guy didn't do the best job!
Also don't pay the receptionist upfront if you go to New Tribe because sometimes he or she will quote you a higher price than the tattoo artist usually asks you to pay in the end especially if it's something simple like writing. |
