I remember listening to the radio with a tape in the deck and my finger on the record button, waiting for that ONE song I loved at the time to play.

I remember a general, child-like sense of "there's nothing to do," whereas now I can decide to instantly learn a new instrument or language or anything I feel like putting the energy into doing. which, most of the time, is still nothing.

me too, and then got a double-deck ghetto blaster for xmas, so I just recorded the radio constantly on a 120min chrome or metal cassette, then scanned for and dubbed the good ones.

As for me... I worked for the largest technology company in the world for 12 years now and computers have been part of most of my life... however I would give it all up for to do something I really love and pays the bills, without internet at all. I'm overwhelmed with information overload at times.

My sister and I were allowed to stay up pretty late compared to most other kids...so we'd always have the best songs on our mix tapes, lol.

Wait wait...what was your mom's deal? Was she just not cool enough to have records? Or were they beyond even her years??

My parents had an awesome record collection.
