Absolutely. Besides, S-300's are now a shadow of what S-400's can do! :eyes: |
True, the S-300/400 series (basically the same system with different radar systems and improved rocket motors for the missiles) are very capable systems. On par with PAC-3 and Standard Block IV in terms of engagement profiles, and nearly there in terms of accuracy and repsonse time.

The US still does not have something along the lines as TOR M-1, or the other short to medium range mobile SAM systems that the Russians seem to love.
I guess the theory was that in a conflict western forces would gain air superiority and they would have to fight through western air forces with surface systems. I would hate to be a SAM battalion commander for the Russians in that situation! :nervous: |

| Nice, I hope Iran makes good use of it. |

Considering Egypt and Syria tried to invade Israel 35 years ago, I wouldn't be surprised if Iran tried something. |
You're assuming the same political situation in the Middle East then and now, which is far from true. 35 years ago, the world wasn't focused on the middle east, they were focused on the Cold War. Also, the US wasn't so infatuated with Israel back then so much as they are now; politicians didn't wear Israeli pins in addition to their little American flag pins in 1967.
But I agree, Iran has every right to strengthen it's capability to defend itself. Every sovereign nation has the right to and should defend themselves from outside aggression and I fail to see how this could conceivably be used in an aggressive fashion, excepting defense of attacking Iranian forces, but Krypton already pointed out the flaw in that argument. |

Lets hope he was talking about the Bradley IFV and not that PAC-3 Patriot launcher behind him... :p |

Finally some good news. |
How do Anti aircraft weapons help Iran wipe Isreal off the face of the map? Even an eraser would be more effective at that. |

I'm sorry, didn't explain what S-300 is.

Here, it says "surface-to-air missile".
Please explain how this ^^^^ can wipe out Israel out of the map? |
My thoughts exactly. |

ha, no body sheild.. weird... you think adding a armoured body sheild to the front of that thing would totally improve combat capacities and yes it is a segway. |

If Iraqi soliders succeeded in shooting down the US aircraft with a help of old, really old SAM systems during so-called 'gain of air superiority", I really would hate to see American pilots going on any stupid missions again Iran, once they have installed and read the user manual to S-300. |

The US would suffer heavier losses than they have seen in the last 30 years if they went into Iran, but eventually they would gain control of the skies.
Granted, I would not want to be there for the first few thousand sorties... :nervous: |

I would argue with that 'eventually' statement. They are not at home in Iran and 10 or how many aircrafts stationed on the US carriers can be easily shut down by S-300/TOR-1 systems. |
