So a snowstorm cancelled work, I go to this, only to get stuck in another snowstorm. LOL
Anyways, another fun night at Footwork. The turnout wasnt so great due to the weather, but there was still enough people having a good time.
Got in around 10:30 and listened to groovy sound of Jeff Button. I swear, you can stick this man in a cargo container and he'd still come up with something appropriate to warm up. Being a good opener and a versatile DJ is something that is hard to do and severely underappreciated and the Mutton Man is pretty darn good. (Any dude who can appreciate a good Timewriter track is a okay in my book) :)
Max Graham also played a fun set. First 2 hrs was very high paced tech influenced house and last hr had more progressive warm fuzzy feel to it. I thought the set was programmed better than last time I saw him in London but had less of a variety. Seems he's almost over that trancey prog binge he was on, but Max Graham = fun house. Flyertalk always brings a smile to my face.
It's been almost a year (way too long!) since I had a chance to see jon jon on decks. Like Jeff, he's got a distinctive sound that you recognize as the jon jon sound. So many locals seems to have trouble creating own style and just follow and play whatever the trend du jour but it's those locals that work hard to create own sound that I find I appreciate more. Totally didnt expect Jay Lumen - Calypso and overall jon jon played more techy than last time I heard him (out of loop too long!) but it was a good set.
Overall another satisfied night at Footwork |

Really nice night. Got there just as Max was coming on, left just as he was finishing. I would have liked to hear Jon and Jeff, but the timing didn't work out.
Excellent vibe/dance space at Footy. It's great to see the whole floor moving and everyone smiling. People were polite and not pushy. Excellent tunage, and I got to see some TAs (bouncing santa hats in front of the DJ booth!)
The only cruddy part was coming home. Yikes. Hellovastorm. |

I first have to start of with saying I MISSED FOOTWORK. Truly my favourite club. Nothing is better than dancing front and centre, being able to interact with the DJ, and feeling the sound pump right out of the speakers. The crowd was solid, everyone was having a great time. And gotta love that floor.
Jeff opened with the perfect opening set. Started off with a chill, low key groove allowing everyone to have a few drinks and do the social thing and slowly worked up to some great dancing beats. I agree with Jon Jon his last few tracks were    I hope this was recorded.
Max came on and the crowd went crazy. It was definitely a room full of fans. I'm still trying to figure out this whole prog thing... Im not the biggest fan. I honestly was hoping to hear something similar to the boat cruise (although I knew that wasnt likely). I found that he lacked a little bit of variety with the exception of a few tracks. Regardless I was on my feet all night dancing away. Had a great time. He knows how to work a crowd, kept the energy at full throttle, and technical skills are top notch. I have loads of respect for this man.
My first time seeing Jon Jon DJ and it was a pleasure. He made a very nice transition between Max Graham and his own sound. I loved every moment of it. The track selection was great. My only regret is not being able to stay later (by that time my legs were throbbing from some major dance floor abuse).
Jon it was a pleasure to see you. You were like a little boy in a candy store... you were glowing with excitement. Seeing you next to Max Graham put a huge smile on my face.
And lastly as always it was great seeing the room full of TAs. Thank you to all for a great night xoxox
Ps. Santa hats FTW WHAT WHAT!!
