ok...so maybe i was exaggerating...but not by much...as a former beer server at the rogers center, I can assure you that minor increases in price for the supplier lead to much bigger jumps in price for the consumer...especially in bars,clubs,sporting events etc... |

i never understood why people would drink cheap bilge water, because clearly they aren't drinking these crap for taste.
There are cheaper ways to get drunk than buck a beer.
I'd rather not drink, if my only option is to drink Laker or Lakeport or whatever. |

FYI, the high cost of alcohol here is largely due to excise or sin taxes levied on alcohol... more then 50% of the cost of your alcohol purchased at Brewer's Retail (sorry; The Beer Store... I'm showing my age) or the Liquor Control Board of Ontario is tax. Those taxes are set by the Fed and Provincial governments, not by the LCBO or Brewer's Retail. |

Not far more socially responsible.
I used to believe this until I read some oxford journals that outlined how there are just as many alcohlics/alcohol abusers and alcohol related deaths overseas as there are over here. And In my travels to europe I noticed the english tourists terrorizing the pubs not canadians or americans. |

as much as Mother Russia consumes its vodka like water, I've never seen anyone get more tanked then Brits and Irish do, gosh! Having lived in Cyprus for 7 years, every summer I've seen my town just drown in them |

| They increased the price of beer to increase revenues. That's what governments do. The reason they do it is because noone says a ing word about anything. Same reason we built the 407, then sold it, and now pay the highest tolls in North America. Noone says anything. |

+1 and the fact that they portray it as social responsibility (engineering) even though it was the taxman that recommended it.
This should be proof of the real mandate behind most of these "safety" and as of late, "environmental" initiatives. It's all about the cashola. |
