Greetings. Quite a long time ago, I put together a sort of personalized "dj mix" for my own listening purposes, comprised of several good tracks I'd discovered on my own, plus several more I'd found thanks to suggestions I got from forums. That was back in 2001.
At the time, to the best of my knowledge, my own mix was the only trance mix in existence which made it a point to include 100% melodic trance. And in the intervening seven years, to my surprise and some dismay, I haven't discovered any mix which exhibits a similar goal. Or perhaps I am just too picky about what qualifies as melodic and uplifting (and competent).
In any event, I'm feeling the itch to do this again, and just like before, I only have perhaps a half dozen tracks in mind for inclusion, and would like to hear some suggestions from other folks. Most people on these forums probably listen to a great deal more trance than I have the opportunity to.
The limiting factor in my search is that I'm trying to use only the best melodic trance I can find. I would define such trance as being useful as listening material in its own right, rather than something aimed squarely at the dance houses. I'm also generally avoiding vocals, as I have consistently found them to be a detraction. To put things into proper perspective, here are some tracks I do intend to use:
Pedro Del Mar meets Sasha Da Link - The Key (Pedro's Late Summer Mix)
-- A very nice, vocal-free version of The Key. Kyau Vs Albert - Falling Anywhere (Rework)
-- Superior to the original, fleshing out its melodic potential. Alexey Selin - White Crystal (D-Air Remix)
-- Link is in mono and sort of clipped but you get the idea. Space Cat - Power Up (Oforia Remix)
-- Small clip of the track is used for this oldschool PC video demo.
That last track is technically goa trance, but it's quite good, and I will make it work in my mix. It's not like I'm aiming to impress anyone besides myself, after all.
Anyway, using those tracks as a template for what I'm on the lookout for, if anyone wants to offer some suggestions, I'll gratefully begin seeking them out. And with any luck, the mixing process will take only a single lazy afternoon, rather than the solid week it took on my circa 2001 PC.
Thanks in advance!

AF Project - Moonlight Madness (Temple 1 Remix)
Rozza - Never Never Land
Adam White - Chimera <--- Sampled from "Hans Zimmer - Injection"
4 Strings - Take me Away (ReWard Remix)
Tom Cloud - Carpe Diem
Suggestions of tracks that after build-ups break into tech beats. Nice variations here:
Transcience - Trial by Fire (Sly One vs. Jurrane Remix)
Ilya Soloviev - Sunwaves
Lange feat. Gareth Emery - Another You, Another Me
Midway - Amazon (Carl B remix)
kitphillips
Just search gareth emery, Kyau and Albert, menno de jong on beatport.

Yeah that Ferrin and Low tune sounds very 2000. Those fat saw synths always brought in mind pictures of northern europe. Everyone associates this type of trance with summer and Ibiza and stuff but i was always thinking of Netherlands during winter or maybe the Aurora Borealis and stuff :wtf: (maybe because i knew that this type of trance comes from Northern Europe lol)
Anyway here is a guilty pleasure of mine as well. Probably the only trance producer that i like from recent years-Daniel Kandi
Daniel Kandi- Child
Nice pseudo-nostalgic lead-line lol.
