In order to even call yourself a beginner at Go, you must first lose 100 games. It is orders of magnitude more complex and interesting than Chess will ever be. You're kidding yourself. |
Naaaa...some people never ever when a Chess tournament in their life. Chess has so much more power behind it. Go is a fad game. I highly doubt there will ever be "GO" tournaments where you have professional ratings and best of all get paid. Chess is so strong most games end in a draw. That's how good you have to be to win. I highly doubt we will have Microsoft making computers like "Deep Blue" to play (lmaO pro "GO" players) it's a fad. |

| Well I was wrong they do have tournaments. And it seems to have been around alot longer than Chess has but it's a matter of taste. And they say GO is very easy to teach and the rules are so simply. It's just it has no staright forward goal like Chess has. I'm sorry it looks boring to me. Chess will always be an Ocean and Go...well when I start seeing computers play pro players then I will give it it's props. Obviously it's just not as fun or catchy to be around for so many longer years and still hasn't even come close to the fame and the fans Chess has. :rolleyes: |

| People say it's more complex than Chess all over the Internet so I will eat my words on it's complexity but for me personally it just doesn't have certain pieces that only do certain things that you can set up combos with. I tried a few games of GO at yahoo. It was kinda fun but was very boring at the end. I like my pieces to be assigned a value and have great sacrifices and combinations and opening traps. GO maybe more complex but for me it lacks the fun factor. :( |
