I need to preface this by saying all credit for what I'm about to share goes to montana - he sent this to me a couple of weeks ago and I haven't been able to stop listening to it.
This is the kind of music I grew up listening to, and a big part of the reason I got into DJ'ing (albeit very different music). It's basically the very, very best of the old school, containing old electro and big beat records, loads of R&B and funk, and some of the most quality hip hop mixing you'll ever hear.
This is really the definition of all that was at one point in time right about DJ'ing, and I cannot recommend it enough. The stink of funk that reeks from this is indescribable - I cannot stress enough, download this set right now.
Also, I tracked down another set via SA that I think a lot of you all will enjoy. If you like the kinds of jazzy house and techno that I've been known to play from time to time, you'd really do well to check this out:

Nice one. Thanks...
Pretty much anything Dre puts his hands on turns into gold. |

Indeed. And I've made it a personal goal to turn folks on to his roots - so many people think he didn't do anything prior to "The Chronic"/"Doggystyle", but his work as a DJ in the old school and presence in the World Class Wrecking Cru is far, far more important to me than anything he's done since. |

| awesome share rob! been on a funk/soul/hip-hop kick recently, great timing. :p |

yes, i listen to this all the time, a break down. first side is two parts, with first half being dre playing electro and scratching over it, a 10 teaser to the b-side, the other is dre throwing it down playin roger - more bounce to the ounce, parliament - flash light, funkadelic etc. in essence all the funk tracks that everyone would eventually sample and first in and formost, dr dre. it's awesome
b-side is dre cutting it up hard and playing every oldschool hiphop & electro jam known. and the mixing is immense, there is only one up imo and that's the misphase on when he brings in no sleep till brooklyn.
but yeah, this is essential stuff. |

Anybody who enjoys this mix and still says that current Hip Hop is great needs to be kicked square in the nuts.
