While "The Colour of Spring" bears some traces of their synth pop beginnings, the last two albums are as far from synth pop as you can get. |

Drunk pump to this thread (cause there is nothing better than listening to 80s new-wave music after a night-out lol)
Nice additions! Although i have to say that the psychedelic furs are more post-punk than synth-pop thats why i didn't mention them (and yes they are awesome). The Sound was another amazing post-punk group who had lots of synths featured in their music. But who cares, its all new-wave in the end!
Here are a few more which are not necessarily the typical hits of those bands but they are some of my favorite...
Camouflage- That Smiling Face (nice dark synth-pop)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6S-TgWu_50Y
OMD- Enola Gay (one of the 80s big hits. Music you dance to while you think of deep stuff...like the second world war...!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01SBf0tsLyI
Ultravox- Reap The Wild Wind (another powerful synth-pop tune by Ultravox.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDspWsK_-vQ
The Sound- Longest Days (a masterful melancholic ballad by this legendary dark post-punk group)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIZLmbQbJ10
Clan of Xymox- Imagination (The poppy side of this classic darkwave band of the 80s. Clan of Xymox always deliver. Imagination takes the shadows away)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQvBJVEvdnc
A Flock of Seagulls- European (I Wish I Was) (excellent tune. The way it builds...shivers...)

This is the pre-apocalyptic pop-music of the cold-war. So good. |

No kidding! You know, a lot of people seem to dismiss A Flock of Seagulls as a 'one hit wonder' band but I disagree. Their debut album is mint!
And since we're talking about singles, here are some of the more obscure ones:
Modern Eon - Watching the Dancers
The Silencers - Shiver and Shake
The Mockers - A Winter's Tale
November Group - Heart of a Champion
Rheingold - Looks Good on You
