The next morning I was told that this happened:
I took the bottle of Absinthe and starting pounding it like a college freshman drinking a Bud Light. I got maybe one-sixth of the bottle down before my body refused it, and I became a steam-tank.
I ran around the house making mechanical noises, with my arms pushing away at everything I saw because I was a ing steam-tank. Apparently I knocked a few paintings off of the walls, and utterly destroyed a bathroom in my bio-mechanical fury.
Fun times. |

I tried absinthe for the first time while i was in germany. I bought some legit stuff from a nice secluded liquor store that was pretty expensive. (Like 75% alc).The only thing that happened to me was colors became brighter and more vivid But maybe that was just the booze kicking in because i was just chuggin it straight outa the bottle. Got me wasted and was very Delicious.
I heard that the more legit absinthe is white, not green? |

No, Absinthe can come in different colors although the most common is green. However, one of the things that determine the 'purity' of the liquor is that it turns white when adding nearly ice cold water. This property is called the 'louche' and it happens with most anise based drinks (like Absinthe).
This does not happen with many of the cheap Czech brands, mostly because of the artificial substances used for coloring. These ones look like Listerine. |

One time at this gig Ben asked me what I wanted to drink, I asked for absinthe knowing that this place was one of the first in LA that got a license to sell it (that was their story anyway). I was expecting a shotglass full + the sugar or at the very most a tumbler full. I got damn near a pint. That was rough. |

ouch. i don't mind the flavor but can't imagine drinking that much. the edupedness i've had is from it being 70% alcohol...though my friend saw a non-existent white dog in the kitchen off the bottle we brought back from spain :wtf:
interesting read -- recent research on thujone. no c0r version cause i'm lazy, drinking champagne, and watching football. |
