Anyone have any experience with it? Worst ing illness ever.
Any of you guys ever had a bad case? How long did it take you to recover fully and get back to life as normal?
I caught it back around august, got incredibly ill in october, partially recovered but was very lethargic/downtrodden/unable to concentrate afterwards. Slowly felt like I was recovering when I started getting sick again early december. Not as bad as the previous time, less flu like symptoms and more of a constant muscle pain/headache, increased fatigue, swollen glands and mild sore throat.
Probably doesn't help that I had a huge weekend on pills about a week before first coming down with it in october, which completely trashes the immune system. Also took a course of anti-biotics just as I started recovering in october (hadn't been diagnosed with glandular fever and thought it was a bacterial thing), which probably led to a prolonging of symptoms since apparently anti-biotics can worsen the infection.
Now almost a month later and I'm slowly recovering from this second bought, glands are slowly going down and the myalgia is improving, and I'm having less issues with tiredness/concentration. Still got ages to go and apparently I'm looking at probably another month or two minimum of being below 100%, possibly longer.
sucks. I highly recommend doing everything possible to avoid contracting it if you can. |

Tubular Williams. Where is he, by the way? Is he travelling?
This is going to be hilarious if he's on vacation in Australia :p |

| I had it when I was 14, but I was never diagnosed, so all I took for it were Strepsils. Kept me off school for almost a month and I lost 14lbs of weight. It was only years afterwards when my brother caught it and I recognised the symptons I clocked that I'd had it as well. |

No, though I'm beginning to wish I could make a trade. Isn't herpes just 'take a pill daily to control symptoms and live life as normal' after all? That sounds fairly appealing at this point, by comparison :p |

Mono is a form of the herpes virus. There are actually a bunch of different types of herpes, with only a few being STD related.
I was using a clever re-placement of this with metaphorical connections to the STD for amusement purposes.

mono was a great experience for me. as soon as i realized i had it, i went to the health center and was prescribed 20 5mg vicodins with an extra refill. and the doctors on campus never hand that stuff out. especially not to guys. my winter hibernation even allowed me to rekindle my romance with ganja. and the doctors note was pretty vital to me passing some classes.
so yeah. id do it again. |

I had strep throat and mono in my 2nd year or 3rd year at Stanford. I think I was really sick, kept getting sicker, couldn't eat, lost weight, and I think it got to where I could hardly even swallow and had a temp of 40.5 before I finally went to the medical center and was diagnosed. After that it took about 4 - 5 months to fully recover and probably 10 months to gain back the weight. I had to stay at school over the winter break to take finals because I wasn't prepared to take them during final exam week. I think I slept like 23 hours a day some days.
Didn't Rob (RJT) have mono, too? And Sara (anuneventrade)?
You should be on the mend by now? Eat healthy foods and don't abuse your body too much until you have your strength fully back. |
