Yes it's quite sick. Had a pretty long discussion with a friend a few weeks ago. That was brought about whaen we were talking about another friend of his, a Tibetan. He was telling me how his friend's dad was later trained by the U.S. military to spy on China in Tibet or something.
Anyway the worst part is the systematic elimination of Tibetan language and culture. There's really no justification whatsoever for China's actions there. I mean this is a really recent event, too! What does China not have enoughl and of it's own? It's just so sad, because Tibetans are such clean, proud and peaceful people, yet the Chinese came in and turned them all into filthy dogs without an identity, for no good reason. I mean it's not as if this was provoked by a conflict. This was a straight-up invasion. |

| I was pretty shocked when I heard about this and saw what the Chinese were doing in Tibet. Just when u think u have strong faith in humanity, think again. |

| Basically they banned the native language when they came in...forcing Cantonese on everyone. That made it very difficult for knowledge to be transferred to youngeer generations, who were brought up with Cantonese as their language. It didn't end there, however. They lated replaced Cantonese with Mandarin, which effectively made it impossile for knowledge to be transferred down. I may have Cantonese and Mandarin switched up but that's how it went down. Not to mention how they specifically killed the most senior and revered members of Tibetan society. |
