Its a toy, pick up a quality soft synth instead.

that's my major conundrum, i've got a couple of good soft synths, so i figured buying cheap hardware is unnecessary- the price was outrageously cheap though (or so i thought) so i figured "meh"

I mean if it makes you happy to play around with knobs im sure thats cool also, but personally i would save up my money for something else that is more worth it or possibly a midi controller.

Just buy it. They're great for live stuff and will inspire you in the studio. I had the chance to pick up a MKII for AU$200 and missed it. Regretted it ever since. You can also probably pull out some cool arps and stuff from it.

At that price, hell yeah I'd buy it, as long as it's in good condition and 100% functional. You can always sell it on eBay for a profit.

I would ues it as a poor mans tb-303!
Just record loops on your daw like a cool bassline and layer them with a synth lead and maybe some pads and other stuff like drums! well thats just me if a had that box!

Honestly you know how people who want to look sophisticated buy fake books just to fill up a library in their house?

I would throw the cash out just for that reason. To make it look like my studio is more of a studio than it really is. Sometimes people come into my "studio", see my xiosynth, my computer, and are like "wtf". Even thought about painting a shoebox red and putting the white letters "nord stage" on it. =]
