Well, I think it helps me a lot whenever I want to search for new music. Labels (the serious, good ones anyway) generally release music of a certain type. With so much being released, it aids in narrowing stuff down. ;)

Truth be told, I haven't really been following the entire "scene" (sic) in at least a year now. There are certain labels I might check more actively (Distinct'ive etc.) but I just don't have the time to pay that much attention anymore...

Ever since I took the big leap into learning how to DJ, I've been paying more attention to labels. If I was just a listener I'd probably wouldn't care that much about them to be honest. :p

Good lad :p

Diynamic
Aus Music
Innervisions (although I must say they've had a relatively slow year compared to some of my other favorites)
be chosen
Cecille/Cecille Numbers
Compost
Liebe Detail (they tapered off toward the end but had a stellar two quarters)
Dial (HUGE releases this past quarter)

Honorable mention: Tsuba

Favorites that had a relatively slow year / labels to watch out for next year:
Deep Vibes
STLHMAudio Recordings
Mood Music (only liked a few releases this year, hopefully next year will hit big with me)
Quintessentials
Running Back
Ian
Propulsion. Solid debut album from Nicholas Bennison & some good releases prior to it, keeping trance how it should be, albeit as a lone star usually.
ponsshin
Meerestief.
Rock solid tunes this year.

cheers, and +1. They put out some real good stuff this year. Good taste.

I'm also gonna go ahead and say 8bit and Mothership released some really decent music this year.

Um, that's about it.

Isn't this the label that Solar Fields releases on? Just remembered because I've been trying to get 'Leaving home' for a sensible price.

Have been really enjoying the stuff Night Drive Music is putting out lately.

Yeah, must be a tough life trolling TA and policing discogs like a Nazi all day.

In 2008 I liked Nano Recordings, Neurobiotic, Vagalume and Alchemy.

I bought a bunch of stuff from them last time I went music shopping. :)

As for labels, I couldn't really say myself. I gravitate towards a lot of stuff that's already been mentioned though, mostly through listening to other peoples' mixes and such. Maybe next year I could answer this a little better, I'm still kinda new to most of this.
