KRK rokits are quite popular, I've heard them and they are pretty good.

Myself, I picked up a pair of M-Audio BX5a's and I love them.

It all depends on your price range though, if you have a higher budget you can start getting into Mackies and Tannoys.

These two are mutually exclusive. Good monitors should expose all the flaws in your music.

Just to clarify what Kit is sayin, if you are producing, you don't want them to sound as good as possible, you want them to sound as accurate as possible to show all the details of the sounds(for better or worse). Where as most speakers for listening in quality, well that would be HiFi (High Fidelity) speakers. Which may sound awesome but, if you are producing they will produce very different results when listening on many speakers. If you mix on monitors with a "flat frequency response" it may not sound as bread and butter but, chances are you will have alot more luck in your tracks sounding equal on many speakers.

Same thing Kit said just more elaborate if you didn't get it the first time:D

The most important thing in studio monitors - is how the mix made on them, sounds from other soures...
With good monitors your mixes sounds good everywhere, on club sound system or notebook speaker.
