Ditto for digweed!
As for midnight at compression, they dropped Radio Slave - Grindhouse (Dubfire Terror Planet Remix). A dark and dirty flashback to lawler and it served as the catalyst that kicked off certain chemical reactions in my brain for the rest of the night. |

I'm taking off work on 3/12 then.
Cut/Copy at Henry Fonda to Digweed at the Mayan. Fantastic.
Oh, and Victor Calderone at Avalon on 1/24. Woo. |

Yeah they played that gem too, both were right at about midnight. Not sure which one was at exactly midnight I guess. Prolly something to do with certain chemical reactions taking place in my brain at about that time... |

Nate, drugs are bad! But I am jealous, I was completely sober doing work for ULTRA, wah, wah, wah. But I got numerous texts from people telling me how slow it was, as if I gave a (am a civilian now, I can say whatever the I want). Together As One was retarded packed as was Infected Mushroom, Gridlock, OC NYE, Avalon, Vanguard. |

I agree that Compression had the best music consistently. I made my way around the festival grounds pretty regularly (I had friends hanging out at every stage), but I always gravitated toward the techno beats.
It's probably passe to say that I enjoyed Moby's set, but it's true. I went in expecting him to bang out anthems from start to finish, and that's exactly what he did. It was nice to hear some old bangers from 8-10 years ago. I only wish he would have played more of his original productions.
The Indie tent was interesting. I had to check out Tittsworth just for his name alone, and I heard just what I expected: Booty House. The music in this tent was interesting, but the DJing skills were severely lacking. I couldn't listen for more than 15 minutes at a time because of all the terrible transitions between tracks.
Marques Wyatt spun some good tunes in the Deep tent. I caught about 30 minutes of the beginning of Farina's set and it was decent. I'm sure he picked it up later on as he was on stage for 3 hours. I left the party early, so I can't give any opinions on anything after 2am.
The VIP area was, IMO, the best part about the event. There wasn't anything special about the setup, but there were no lines for the bar and the bathroom lines moved quickly. One question, though: What's up with Monster distributing "Tour Water" in a can similar to their energy drink? It took me a minute to realize what was going on when I asked for a water and was handed a Monster can.
All in all, Giant was decent, but not spectacular. I'd estimate 7000-8000 in attendance. Lines were short, there was room to dance, and the music was generally good. It just seemed that everybody there wasn't into the NYE vibe that usually hangs over parties like these. I wonder if it was an economical issue. |
nope! everyone was at armin haha. |

| So compression played Grindouse or possibly Total Departure .... Yeah, I love those tracks but that doesn't sound so special and they seemed to make such a big deal about it. |
