R u serious????
So the cops are gonna raid...
They're all ready to go and organized....
"GO GO GO!!!"
They go though the door and down the steps, look to the left, and stop...
"Hey...theres a sign...lets read it..."
read read read...
"Hey guys...looks like we can cancel the raid...these guys are ok now according to this letter..."
This is better for business than maybe if the owner (who is it these days anyway??? Still Dave???) sits down with the police dept and they have a proper meeting??? |
It demonstrates a willingness to cooperate with the police and shows that there trying to run a business.
And if you read the letter, IT DOES suggest a meeting!!!! |

Right...
So you're saying that the best way to request a meeting with the police is to post a request on a please dont raid us letter on the wall of the establishment..
And you say this is good business???
They can't call the dept on the phone??? |

Even though I do not frequent the zone very often, as mentioned previously, I did notice some changes in the place. (More Security, less visible “activities”, “cleaner” washrooms).
Cam, I agree with you on your previous points. Having the sign does show that they are making the effort. When I spoke with one of the workers there, she was pleased that I had mentioned the changes that I have noticed. She stated that they are trying hard to work to get things straightened up there.
I think you made your valid point which make complete sense; you are being baited into an argument just for the sake of it because that’s what some people like to do. Just walk away and ignore it.

New Years Day went down well, that’s what this thread is really about. |

The real point of the letter rests in law. The letter serves as an open invitation to the police or other government officials to engage the management in dialog regarding any areas they have concern with. If the tavern is then issued citations for violations without having previously received warning from the authorities this open invitation allows the tavern to claim they have done their due diligence in addressing concerns by inviting a meeting with concerned parties, which said parties failed to accept; therefore, the citation should be thrown out and a warning issued in it's place. Essentially, the point of the letter is to increase the probability that they will be given warnings for violations prior to actual citations/fines. |

| I find the letter pretty comical, and I think that's half of its intent. |
