I'm going to defend some unfair pressure being put on Obama. That's right, you're reading this correctly.
I just read an article by Liza Porteus Viana at "AOL's Political Machine" (link below). It is titled: Obama Blasted For Radio Silence On Gaza Violence... totally unfair, considering we really do only have one president at a time and he sets foreigh policy, something Obama seems to understand. He's not abdicating any responsibility because he has no position to abdicate at the moment.
Some Highlights:

Some of these are just hilarious, especially the first. Hamas meticulously kept the truce until Israel attacked? They must have missed the public pronouncements by Hamas that they had unilaterally decided to end the truce, followed by the 200+ missile and rocket attacks on Israeli civilians from Gaza. Others assume that the only policy that should be pursued is that which forces Israel to stop defending itself after Hamas attacks, a policy that even Mahmoud Abbas and Egypt didn't have the nutsack to demand. Arab Times, the mouthpiece of the Saudi royal family, roundly condemned Hamas as the author of its own misery in an editorial.

Wow, this really is the apocalypse! :p
Though I agree with you, the unfortunate reality is that we don't have much of a President right now. Bush is pretty content to fade into retirement at this point, and I think that's where a lot of the frustration with Obama's restraint comes from.
After all, the headline at HuffPo right now is:
"BUSH'S RESPONSE TO GAZA: LET OBAMA HANDLE IT"
With Obama waiting in the wings and Bush with one foot out the door of 1600 Penn., I'm not sure we even have A president right now. |

Did Bush really say that, as if he doesn't give a damn? Or did the Huffpo not give the whole context?
Haha... I bet both George and Laura Bush are so far beyond ready to get out of Washington and disappear for a while back in TX. |
