People were calling tracks from 1990-1994 old school in 2003... its going on 10 years since 1999. Most of the classics we associate with 99 were even older than that, a lot of them were being played in 98 too.

Well whatever, point is the term classic should apply to 1990-95 because it has a significantly different sound to modern trance, and 98/99 stuff is just called epic trance, oldschool or not.
