Dettmann was born 50 kilometeres outside of Berlin in Fürstenwalde. In 1992 he discovered Techno and immediately bought a pair of turntables at the age of 16. He promoted parties in Dresden and Frankfurt/Oder which grew his reputation eventually leading up to a residency at Berghain’s predecessor OstGut.
Since 2004, he has also worked
at Berlin’s record shop institution Hard Wax. In 2006 he started to produce his own tracks. His tracks for Ostgut Ton, his own imprint MDR and remixes for artists like Ellen Allien and labels like
Rekids reflect the unique and bass heavy sound of the Berghain floor like no others.
His understanding of Techno is very much influenced by an old-school ethos, as he was a Hard Wax customer long before he started to work there.
His music is as much reduced to the basics as
it is profound and in its roughness very distinct; altogether musical features derived from his experience as a dj.

That's a tough one man. I think Leger comes around to NYC a bit more often than Dettman does if that helps any. I haven't seen either one live personally - just have heard sets. I haven't listened yet but I heard that Dettman's RA podcast was pretty cool. |

way different styles man, Dettman is a resident at berghain which is one of berlins Hardest techno clubs, he will be BANGING most likely
Leger is more elecro/chunky/tech-house
like pat said leger comes to ny a few times every year, so i would go with Dettman, but i am a techno fiend so i guess i am biased lol...hope that helps
