And folks wonder why the economy is so ed right now? There's a big part of your answer right there - the absurd, cancer like growth of a company that sells almost exclusively foreign products and pays its employees well below a living wage with no benefits to speak of.

An hour or so but every loyal WalMart shopper should watch it.

Thanks that reminded me, I'm gonna rewatch 2&3, watched the original not too long ago, but have forgotten the others. Haven't seen them in like 15 years.

A few years ago, I worked for Wal-Mart for like a week before I just stopped ing going.
They had daily meetings where everyone got together and started singing some anthem or song or whatever about how great it is to be positive or some - I always took a smoke break at that time. ing clownshoes.

For anyone of the literary persuasion, I highly recommend this book:
One of the most compelling things I read in college - Ehrenreich tries to survive on minimum wage in a bunch of different positions (one of which is with Wal Mart) and wrote about her experience.
Very, very good.

a very good book.
the stories about a woman having to work 2 minimum wage jobs to barely pay the bills and get by were very compelling.

There's nothing wrong with selling mostly or even exclusively foreign products. The importation of cheap goods allows American industries to further specialize in the things they can do better than the low-paid, low-educated laborers hired by many foreign companies. Protectionism feels warm and fuzzy in the short term, but is not very beneficial in the long run.
I read a good bit of Nickel and Dimed. Some dude wrote a "rebuttal" to it by starting with next to nothing in a homeless shelter and working his way up to a decent living:
Lots of people have criticized the methods of both authors, of course. ;)
Abercrombie
Walmart vid doesn't show all the Walmarts that opened in Canada from 1994 on.

Walmart may not provide the greatest standard of living to its employees but this strategy is the core behind the company being able to offer the goods/services it does at the prices it does. Without Walmart how would all the minimum wage earning people survive? Not off of local shop prices!
Anyone who hates Walmart is forgetting that they started as a small local shop too (as you can see by the video). It is the consumer that created Walmart, not the aggressive purchasing power behind the companies executives.
I always like a good Walmart debate

the "Super Size Me" guy did it with his girlfriend on the show he had for a little.
I loved that episode!
I feel bad cuz I do love WalMart. You can get anything in that place at any time of the day.
