not 80s (sitcom ran from 75-79), but I caught the reruns on tv, and I enjoyed it when I was young. :)

Married With Children was one of the most satisfying sitcoms I've seen up until the fifth season.

It was at that point in which the show and all its characters were incredibly implausible caricatures of themselves.

Worse yet, it was around season five in which the audience would cheer wildly at every toilet flush, every character entrance, and every fat joke Al would make. Seriously, watch an episode of one of the later seasons, and you'll find that a good three minutes of it consists of dead time in which the characters are waiting for the audience to shut their damn mouths. I originally intended to pick up every season, but I think I stopped at six because it really became unwatchable.

Other than that, seasons one through four were pure gold, and relied on some really thoughtful, quality humor to get the job done.

A couple of my favorite exchanges:

Al: Peg, sell the house!
Peg: Why, Al? Did you find a shirt somewhere you liked?

Kelley: Dad, do you mind if I use the car?
Al: Oh, sure honey, but try not to get it dirty, because we'll be living in it soon.

Married With Children is one of the greatest sitcoms to ever come out of America. I have a friend from Mexico that was actually able to learn English from watching that show :wtf:

It would be funny if he had only learnt whole phrases and everyone kept saying to him "isn't that a line from a sitcom or something?!".
