This is a myth on the same scale that people outiside america think that all americans are fat.

Niether true, but there are exceptions ;)

energy costs alot more in europe than it does in the united states. I spent a month backpacking (england, belgium, holland, france, germany, switzerland, italy, czech republic) and i had warm beer once. I had no trouble finding a cold beer anywhere. The only time I got a warm beer is when I ordered one on tap at the parrot pub in surrey, england.

I like my beer cold as the arctic, in a frosty glass that's cold as the arctic. I've yet to have a beer that I prefer any other way.

So when Americans drink cold beer, they usually drink it fridge-cold, which subdues any flavor there was to begin with. Most of the time people who make fun of warm beer are bud/natural ice drinkers - so there's not much taste to begin with.

Most Belgian ales cannot be fridge-cold because you will not taste the full aroma. It's the same reason you keep vodka in the freezer but the scotch on the shelf and never ever drink scotch any other way but neat or with 1 small/medium cube of ice.

I like what I like.

And my beer consumption is not limited to Bud or Natty.

(I drink Miller Lite too).

If you're not taking a piss here, then people like you are not qualified to complain about "warm beer". Especially when you say "I've yet to have a beer that I prefer any other way" - have you tried anything but 40oz?

If you are taking the piss alright, but if not, this is the biggest load of ever. My high school German teacher talked about how there are a good number of places that serve warm beer. Iirc the HofbrÀuhaus is one of them.

I was, indeed, taking the piss.

It really depends on the beer. Some are good cold, some are good warm, some are good when you're too drunk to taste them (american beers). At the pub I usually go to they tend to serve it slightly colder than room temp. Like 15-ish degrees.

The only time I drink warm beer is when I've held the pint glass in my hand a little too long and the end gets to room temp or there abouts. It's en rotten.
