14. Peter Dildo - Take My Hand (Original Mix) [Trackdown, 2005]

So this is the first time I've ever tried my hand at putting a "tribute" mix together, so I'm a bit uncertain as to how well this will be received and if I was capable of finding the balance between old and new and create a coherent set of material from a single artists back catalog.

Obviously by now you know my choice has been André Schmid, better known as Rozzo, Mountain People, One in a Billion, and Peter Dildo. André has consistently produced some of the best records I've been fortunate enough to play the past few years, and has been doing so since the early nineties. Heavy influences from the worlds of French house and techno, as well as the ability to produce a very wide range of sounds, have kept at least a Rozzo tune or two in my bag as long as I've been playing house. My only hope is that the love I had going into doing this mix is apparent, and that it's a worthy tribute to a man who is the epitome of producing quality over quantity.

The first half is very, very deep, and the second is relatively melodic and banging - I have a feeling there may be a fair number of people who like either half but aren't sure of the whole thing, but my aim was to try and capture the diversity of the mans productions over the last 15 or so years, so I hope when all is said and done at least a few folks will think I've managed to succeed in my aim.

Enjoi.

Now that you posted it I can tell you that my guess was Funk D'Void :p

Really interested to see what you did here. This right here might be up on my list of favorite tracks of all time:

09. Rozzo - Blue (Original Mix) [Trackdown, 2003]

looks like fun. Rozzo has been hit and miss for me, but maybe you selected all the right ones.

To be honest, I almost don't expect this mix to have much of a broad appeal, especially if you're not into Rozzo - but perhaps even if you are, because there's a pretty broad range of the kind of stuff he's produced in here, and I'd imagine it's not all that likely that anyone else has the exact same taste in tunes from a single producer as I. :p
lücid
i thought for sure it would have been Lars... but i'm glad it wasn't.

will check it out.

I think it's awesome that basically everyone thought I'd go straight to Francois D'Void Sandberg for a project like this.

And I definitely understand why you all did... but I'm glad it appears not necessarily too predictable. :p

Now I just need 11 to get here so I can finally get some sleep and try to figure out what to do with the weekend... I realized it was Friday for the first time about an hour ago. :clown:
