Usually "ingestion" problems can be prevented by teaching kids how dirty things on the ground are. I think thats how we all learned growing up. But hey, big government brother would disagree. They know better right?

I agree that drugs are a huge concern but anything we can do to get second had smoke away from people that dont want it is a step in the right direction.

I think this is a good thing. Just because they are doing this doesnt mean that they are not addressing some "real problems" btw This is a real problem! Smoke kills period! I dont want kids I know breathing in that just because the grownup is to stupid to not think of them. This is a point in the right direction.

+1

im all for the ban!
i am still waiting on the day cigarettes will be banned outright

Absolutely right Jay...

HOWEVER...

I do agree with banning smoking anywhere there are children who may be influenced by the habit...

It's stupid to say it's for the second hand smoke thing though...

You're in outside for Christ sake...

Why? Both my parents smoked and told me constantly that they wish they had never started. My mom was always upfront about every time she tried to quit and failed. The demonstration and education by being exposed to the problem instead of hiding it is what led me to a non smoking lifestyle. The more ignorant you make your kid, the more he is apt to make the mistake you are trying to avoid them from making. This is a parenting decision id like to make. Instead the government is taking it upon themselves to make these decisions on my behalf. Its offensive.

Weak. So one person's opinion (Or some special interest group's) on how parenting should be done DOWN TO THE MINUTE DETAIL should be law and forced upon everyone? Perhaps we should just give up our children to the state for proper training until 18? That will solve everything right?

why dont we just make all rules obsolete. That would solve everything right?

If somebody at a playground is close enough for their smoke to affect my kid, we have got bigger problems than smoking i can assure you

again stupid peoples friends that are with you and your kid smoking away would be a big problem. This happens, I have seen it a bunch of times. Yes you cant protect them in the house but why wouldnt we try to help out as much as possible.

Wow you know me well... I have no experience with kids and im a smoker. Double fail my friend. Never smoked with exception of literally a few cigars in my lifetime.

well I just assumed because you are no for us protecting kids from second hand smoke. There is a reason they are making this law. Its not just like they go... well lets do this today. They have studies and research and then go about making laws. Sometimes they are not the best but in this case I am 100% for it. But thats just my opinion.

you are right about the influence thing but it is still about second hand smoke as well.

ChemEnhanced
don't worry about second hand smoke....third hand smoke is even worse for you.

The whole thing is stupid...there are a lot of other things in this world that are going to kill kids before a sniff of some smoke from a cigarette.

Lets just ban everything that could hurt us....actually that would be too hard....it would be easier to just kill the human race....which probably isn't a bad idea....we are too stupid for our own good.

Or better yet. Let the government get back to governing instead of social engineering and micromanaging lifestyles!!

Sure you can. "Um excuse me friend. Please dont smoke next to my child. Thank you." Taking responsibility for your child without government intervention. Wow, what a concept.

LOL!! Who said that? What i am not for are stupid laws that achieve absolutely nothing but allowing some councillor to boast that she actually did something for the community. These are PR stunts.

I agree... see above.

There are also studies that say ingestion of small amounts of antifreeze wont kill you. So what? Studies say that all kinds of things can be harmful to you. Should we ban literally everything just to be safe? I cant wait until the government starts banning fast food from children and fining parents who give their kids a hamburger. The worst part is is that people like you would probably be all for it.
