I know its not the greatest program. I understand you can't really do anything tricky tricky wit it. I have ableton but its a pain in my ass to learn how to use it and I don't care that much.

so before anyone starts needlessly ripping on me for asking, I'm just sayin, chill, its just a question.

I'd appreciate any POSITIVE feedback. thanks

I'm using Virtual DJ 5.0 Mac Beta b3 just to DJ at this college bar and I want to start doing video mixing. I have an imac, the DVI extension, and and S video cable so that I can play the videos on the TVs at the bar.

My problem is that when I plug my mac into the TV, I get my entire screen on the televisions as opposed to just the music video. Is there any way I can have a full screen video on the TV's while keeping the DJ interface on my mac screen??

thanks

Depending on the Imac that you've got, you should be able to show the visualisations on the tv screen while using the dj software on your laptop.

Go into the system preferences and click on displays. There should be an option there where you can select the orientation of your screens. Eg what side the additional screen is on etc.

Then all you have to do is drag the video part (dunno if this is a separate window from your dj software) and drag it into the external display.

Again as i said it'll depend on the power of you imacs graphics card. I know the above is the case with my Macbook Pro... Sorry if this doesn't solve your problem.

im not sure i quite understand what you mean by selecting the orientation of my screens.

the video does pop up in a separate window, but i couldnt drag it into anything.

hmm... im thinking what I might do is connect a second monitor to my mac and that way I'll have the svideo running from one monitor to the TV with the video window and the other monitor will have the mixer on it
