i have respect for this guilo.
you can tell how good an asian restaurant is by how many asians there are eating.
case in point, usually Mandarin is chock full of non-asians. |

Oh man... you just made a thread that I'll be posting in unitl the end of time!!
Dim Sum - Lai Wah Heen (downtown) or it's sister resto Lai Toh Heen
(Mount Pleasant & Eglinton) |
Till the end of time? Or how about just once?
I just went back to Lai Wah Heen, specifically for their Peking duck. It was just fantastic! Between two people, we didn't eat anything else.
I hadn't been there for 7 years, so I was bit worried that the quality might have dropped away. But, it lived up to my memories. |

So can anybody recommend any really exciting places they have been lately?
I went to Swish by Han in the summer (fusion korean food), and it was fantastic. It didn't break the bank, and everything was so unique.
I love Korean food, it was cool to have it in a little more sophisticated way. They certainly remained true to traditional flavour bases, while throwing in some extra curve balls to entice you.

Hey I'm easily distracted.
How's this.
If you like Mexican & DON'T go to El Trompo in Kensington, then you are a failure. Perfect tacos & great prices. In fact the whole damn menu is gorgeous.
For BBQ, I've got a new place I can't get enough of: Lou Dawg's on King at Portland. Open until 4am on the weekends too. Brisket; amazing. Pulled pork: excellent. Loutine: Wow. Smoked Chicken Wings: gorgeous. Deep Fried Pickles: haven't gone yet without having them.
For SoCal style fish tacos, burritos and lobster fritters: The Combine Eatery on the Danforth. Fantastic food! Good bourbon selection too.
That enough?
B/c now I'm starving! lol.
Let's keep this one the front page for people with no attention span like me.
Also, has anyone been to the Grand Electric in Parkdale yet? |

I was just there before Christmas and we thoroughly enjoyed their Dungeness Crab. Highly recommended. |
