Hey guys,
So I finally got rid of my m-audio radium 49 keyboard due to the lack of vista 64bit support..
Searching for a new midi keyboard now..
Any advice? I use it to hook it up to Reason 4.
price +/- 80
I prefere to buy it from musicstorekoeln.de.
thx in advance :) |

thx Laurent.
Seems like a nice controller, also has some nice reviews.
I'll keep that one in mind :). |

Anything that physically fits in your desired keyboard space is gonna be one of the best choices. if it doesn't sit in the right spot, it may as well be junk.
I found that out the expensive way. >< |

Too big to fit in front of me, so I put it off to my left. This means I can't use it's controls while looking at my monitor. I do not use it except it's keys. Total travesty.
Get something that's CONVENIENT. Super important. |

Yeah I echo the sentiments of others when they say you should invest in a midi keyboard that's convienient.
While my old studio may have looked aesthetically pleasing, the keyboard was on it's own stand away from the computer and I'd end up facing away from the near-fields and my TFT, so it very time consuming having to go back and forth. I binned the idea and just used the mouse instead.
I'd recommend you get something that sits nicely on your desk in front of your working area, even if you have to sacrifice some functionality to make it fit, otherwise it'll just sit there gathering dust on it's own otherwise. |

Id recommend the Remote SL 37, its pretty compact and has all the goodies.
Its expensive though... But for Reason it really is killer since its mapping for it is excellent and hardly any setup involved. |

I have a totally different opinion...hmmm well first of all, I gotta tell you that my keyboard (EMU X-board 49) is sitting on a stand right behind my back...so I have to turn around everytime I want to use it...
well, it might sound inconvenient, but if you force yourself, it certainly helps you become more familiar with being in time...
I believe that since I have my keyboard setup like this the timing of my hand-played compositions got a lot better :)
so I just wanted to say, that a little incovenience is not neccessarilly bad :) |
