Korg Elecribe ESX-1

So I just found a deal on one of these and I am pretty clueless where to start. The Instruction book is just not doing it for me and so far I can't find anything better via Google and YouTube.

Probably a long shot, but could anyone point me to some decent tutorial vids or even a beginners guide. Ideally I want some "exercises" with steps that would have you using some different features of the unit. Hell, even a book I could buy would be amazing.

Sell it and get Reason 4 if you want a sampler! That korg is out of date!
MY TOP SAMPLER Picks hard and soft!

1.Reason 4
2.Akai MPC 1000 with JJ OS
3.NI KONTACT
4.Roland SP series

BTW why did you buy it the korg?

i had it for a month and learned most of what it could do; it wasnt too much, but it was really fun to play with. tho i never managed to make a full track with it, nor with the EMX which i got at the same time. those two in sync tho almost made it possible but i had trouble getting the sound i wanted beacuse both of them are VERY limited when it comes to eqing. superfun toys tho and inspiration was flowing beacuse i was standing up like a dj while playing on them and i didnt have to look on a screen. i would consider another groovebox someday but not that one, its just too cheap sounding.

BTW atxballer, Reason is not a sampler, it has a passive sampler included (playing samples) but without sampling live opertunities. Also he obviously dont want to sit infront of the computer so he might wanna look into AKAI MPC or something.

Well i Record the audio on reaper or protools and put it in Reason or any sampler!
If i had any hardware sampler i would not use it to record the sample!

Umm basically I found a great deal on Craigslist. I'm not all serious about producing, mainly just wanted something to mess around on. Oh and my laptop is e so I didn't think software would work out to great.

What you got on your lab top? Rebirth will work on it! You can put your Drum kits and samples when you mod Rebirth! http://www.rebirthmuseum.com/

As and Electribe owner myself, I promise you there are very pieces of kit out there that are as much fun to use as Electribes. The ESX is a great piece of kit, very intuitive, and although compared to a full DAW with plugins it might seem slightly limited, there is no reason you can't make a full track on it.

Check the vids on youtube - I forget which one, but there's a guy on there that make amazing EDM tunes from scratch in literally 6 minutes.

The ESX is sampler, so if you feel the sounds are out of date, just load some new ones in!!! Buy it - it really is great and will also teach you a lot about programming tracks.

Oh I already have it, been messing around with it for a couple days. Did you simply use the instruction book to learn everything or did you have some other sort of method?

Generally I messed around with it but when I thought, how do I do this?, then I went to the manual, which in the case of the electribes are very good.
