Can you play your productions live?

I'm wondering if one could play keyboard over premixed tunes at a club, instead of just staring at a laptop all night. Like, playing piano for a melodic trance song, and playing bass on a more bass-oriented trance song--all on the keyboard. Anybody feel me on this one?

I know what you mean , like if solarstone played seven cities in front of the crowd , but if you think , for example a lot of arpegiated tracks it would be quite hard.

im thinking more like Ralph Fridge - Angel or Dutch force-Deadline type arped track , Which use a 3 key 1/16 arp and trying to use the filters aswell , but it would be interesting.

I'm working on incorporating a guitar in my sets, playing some improvisations over the tracks... today you can make it happen, if you know how to play and you want to do it, you can, and it cost pretty much nothing compared to 5 years ago...

the tougher part IMO is actually playing a part from your own track, exciting as it sounds i think that seeing just one person playing on an instrument is quite boring actually, and you would have to lose other stuff from your show, like you would need a pre-programmed set or if you'll make it on the spot you wouldn't have that much time to mix in and out cos you'll need to play.. if you have a third arm than you'll do fine :)

anyway Ive been working on it for quite some time, if you want to hear what it sounds like you are welcomed to download any of my sets published on my sites (facebook - notes/myspace - blog)...

Armin did this at one point. I Think it might have been for Sensation White in 2006.

did what?
if you're talking about incorporating live guitar he still does it with his brother at armin only(s)... it's fkn epic...

giueseppe ottaviani owns live digital performance, he's unbelievably good, and just plays a midi keyboard through one PC running soft-synths (he plays the leads), while another comp runs the background stuff i think (running ableton i believe) :)

you're totally on egos, he does hit the synth most of the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMIJ...feature=related

so are his tunes premixed already?

i don't like all those group stuff :)

i use Live and Guitar rig 3 as a stand alone when playing "live", it has a cool pitch shifter that allows me to tune the guitar to the current pitch of the song playing out... thanks for your kind words :)

i think he has one lappy running softsynths, and the other just running ableton, so yeah it would be pre-mixed, although he brings a normal mixer into the equation as well... not sure what he does with that :conf:

i would assume that he has the stems of a track running through ableton without the main synth line. Then he plays melodies over the top of the stems with his soft-synths, which would be really programable :)

i could be wrong, but that's my assumption, and it makes sense.. :)

he's a gun anyway!
i've only seen him twice, but he has a very special setup (with the laptops and keyboard etc).. PVD has a similar setup i believe, but unlike PVD, giuseppe is there at least a couple hours before he goes on setting up all of his own equipment... the "Rockstar" PVD gets groupies to set up everything for him, and just goes onto the stage when he's set to play :p
