There was actually a study done (don't remember by who) but it did show that there was a positive correlation between individuals who played a lot of FPS video games and being a good shooter in terms of accuracy and strategy.

That was one of the reasons why the Army created the free FPS game a few years ago. I remember playing it. Wasn't bad at all!

No CS...but decent for the price.

I disagree.
Mouse clicking is way different than shooting a real rifle.

Not to mention if you get hit once in real life, you're going down.

Even then it wasn't real enough.

It may not help your core accuracy, but 'accuracy' includes skills like leading a moving target, which playing a lot of FPS games will definitely help with. Playing a lot of FPS games would for SURE improve your strategy and positioning in battle to make it less likely that you would be shot that one time in the first place. While still not realistic "enough", playing shooters DOES improve beneficial skills that would possibly make you a better soldier compared to those who don't play shooters.

All it takes is an hour in some simulator and these kids are hooked... It's a downright wrong way to recruit teenagers in my opinion, they don't know better. If they are fighting for their county they shouldn't need convincing with some fancy ass video games. Using simulators to train is one thing, but using them to recruit is another.

anyways here's a vid... almost makes me wanna join the army ;)

would you have a problem if some other company or govt department used video games as a recruiting tool?
